► SQEC
School Quality Enhancement Committee (SQEC)
This is the main committee that the School rep sits on.
It meets twice a semester on average and is usually chaired by the dean or associate dean of the school. It deals with quality issues in the school and feeds information into the University Quality Enhancement Committee (UQEC), which oversees quality across the University.
School reps are expected to take issues raised to them by students to the SQC to represent their views. In doing this, School reps will be showing tangible evidence of extra-cirricular organisation, negotiation and presentation skills - just the kind of skills that can make them stand out in a job interview.
Any matters arising should be notified to the relevant SQEC officer before the meeting so that these issues can be included in the agenda. However, if this is not possible then issues can be raised at the meeting under the heading 'Student Issues'.
