Green Week
16th-20th March 2009

The Students’ Union is hosting its first ever Green Week from 16th -20th March 2009. The purpose of the campaign is to encourage the student body here at Wolverhampton to join the rest of the student movement and consider the impact we have on our environment.
As well as a ‘green’ issue of Crywolf, there will be recycling facilities all week in the SU at City Campus for glass, cans and paper.
This year, we have started simple by giving you something to get involved in each day of the week – so come and join in the fun!
Monday 16th March:
• ‘Go Green’ Day where all SU staff dress in green and make a donation to the charity People and Planet. Why not join us and dress in something green!
• 4pm: come and help us make a human ‘Go Green Sign’ in the Sports Hall Squash Court on City Campus.
Tuesday 17th March:
• Why not make a charity donation and have your face painted by ‘Fun Faces by Michelle’ for St Patricks Day between 11am-2pm in the SU at City Campus.
• Visit us in the Courtyard on City Campus to make a wall of your green pledges from 12-3pm.
Wednesday 18th March:
• ‘Swish in the City’ swap shop in The Zone at City Campus from 2.30pm to swap your clothes, jewellery, shoes, handbags (etc).
Thursday 19th March:
• We will be around City campus with the Green Party asking you to tell us what we should be asking our council to do for students on green issues. Pick up your FREE mouse mat if you talk to us! The petition will eventually be sent to the Wolverhampton MP Rob Marris.
• Christian Aid Climate Day of Action in Coventry - make your own way there to join the rally to send powerful messages to E.ON (power and gas supplier).
Friday 20th March:
• Guest speaker Jenny Will is here from the Enterprise team at Wolverhampton City Council to talk to you about what you can do to go green.
• Information stalls in the SU from a range of charities and green organisations such as Friends of the Earth and the National Vegan Society.
As well as the above activity, throughout the week we will be giving away FREE bags for life kindly donated by Marks and Spencer, Sainsbury’s and Tesco. Why not visit their websites to see their contribution for a greener environment!
